Privacy Policy — How We Handle Your Data

1. Who we are

CalculatorAI (“we”, “us”) operates the website at calculatorai.app and provides a suite of financial, real-estate, health and lifestyle calculators, optionally enhanced with AI features. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and your rights over it.

2. Data we collect

Account data: when you sign up — your email address, the display name you provide, and the language you use the site in. Stored in our Supabase database.
Authentication data: hashed password (for email accounts) or your Google account identifier (if you sign in with Google).
Subscription state: whether your Pro entitlement is active and until when. Billing is processed by Stripe; we never store full card numbers.
Calculator history and favorites: stored locally in your browser by default. If you are signed in we may sync this to our database.
Waitlist data: if you joined the pre-launch waitlist — your email, locale, and the date you signed up.
Technical data: standard server logs (IP address, user agent, request path) and minimal analytics needed to keep the service running.

3. How we use your data

To create and operate your account.
To send transactional emails — confirmation, password reset, security notifications, billing receipts, and the launch announcement you signed up for.
To grant Pro access (including the free Pro month for waitlist signups).
To improve calculator accuracy and the user experience.
To comply with our legal obligations and prevent fraud.

4. Service providers

We rely on a small number of third parties to run CalculatorAI:

Vercel — hosting, edge network, server logs.
Supabase — database, authentication, file storage.
Resend — transactional email delivery.
Google — only if you choose “Sign in with Google”.
Stripe (when paid subscriptions launch) — payment processing.
Market data — The blog’s market overview loads shared quotes from our server, without embedding TradingView or waiting for analytics-cookie consent. Our server retrieves and caches data from market-data providers. This widget does not send them your browser IP address, CalculatorAI account details or saved financial records. Following an external source link opens that provider’s website, where its own privacy policy applies.

5. Your rights (GDPR / similar)

Access the personal data we hold about you.
Correct inaccurate data (you can edit your name and email in account settings).
Delete your account and all related data — use the Delete account button in settings. Deletion is permanent. An active paid subscription must be cancelled first. Entries you added to a tracker you share with other people stay with them.
Export your data in a portable format on request.
Withdraw consent at any time for processing based on consent.
Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

6. Retention

We keep account data while your account exists. Server logs are kept up to 90 days. Billing records are retained for as long as required by accounting law. Deleted accounts are removed from active systems immediately and from backups within 30 days.

7. International transfers

Our service providers may process data in the EU, the United States, or other regions. Transfers are covered by standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards where required.

8. Children

CalculatorAI is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

9. Mobile app (iOS and Android)

The CalculatorAI app for iPhone, iPad and Android (previously published as “Calculator Hub”) uses the same account as calculatorai.app. Everything above applies to it too; this section adds what is specific to the app.

What the app collects and why

Account and sign-in: your email, name and profile picture, and how you sign in — email and password, Google, or Sign in with Apple. With Sign in with Apple you can hide your email; we then receive an Apple relay address instead.
Purchases: which plan is active, until when, and the store’s transaction identifiers — to unlock your plan on the app and the website. Payments are made to Apple or Google; we never see your card or payment details.
Data stored on your device: favourites, saved calculations and settings. When you are signed in, favourites sync to your account so they match the website.
Grace conversations: the messages you type or dictate and Grace’s replies are stored in your account, so a chat can continue on the website and in the app. You can delete conversations.
Microphone: used only after you tap the microphone to talk to Grace or dictate a message. The recording is sent over an encrypted connection to our server and to ElevenLabs, which turns it into text. We do not keep the audio — only the resulting text, as part of your conversation. The app never records in the background and releases the microphone when you leave it.
Camera and photos: used only when you choose to take or pick a photo — for your profile picture, or, where available, an image you give Grace or a tracker to read (for example a receipt). Profile pictures are stored in our file storage; images to be read are processed by Anthropic to extract their content.
Notifications: if you allow them, your device’s push token is stored with your account so we can send the reminders and alerts you set up. Some reminders are scheduled on the device itself. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings.
Usage analytics: Google Firebase Analytics records app events — screens and calculators opened, searches, paywall views, purchases — with an app-instance identifier. We do not attach your name or email to these events and use them only to improve the app.
Ideas board: ideas and votes you post on the in-app Ideas board are stored anonymously in Google Firebase.
No ads, no tracking: the app shows no ads, does not access your device’s advertising identifier and does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites. We do not sell personal data.

Service providers for the app

Apple — App Store, In-App Purchase, Sign in with Apple, push delivery on iPhone and iPad.
Google — Google Play Billing, Sign in with Google, and Firebase: Analytics, Remote Config (app settings; no personal data), Cloud Messaging (push delivery) and Firestore (the Ideas board).
RevenueCat — manages in-app subscriptions. It receives your account’s internal identifier (not your email) and the store’s purchase records.
Supabase — your account, your data and uploaded files. Vercel — hosting of the servers the app connects to.
Anthropic — the AI model behind Grace; receives your messages and any image you ask Grace to read, to produce an answer. ElevenLabs — speech-to-text for your voice and text-to-speech for Grace’s spoken replies.
Sentry — error reports from our servers and website, which can include technical data about a failed request. Resend — account and security emails.

Deleting your account from the app

In the app, go to Account → Delete account. It opens your account settings, where deletion is permanent: the account and its data are removed from active systems at once and from backups within 30 days (see Retention). Entries you added to a tracker you share with other people stay with them.
Deleting the account does not cancel a subscription bought through the App Store or Google Play — cancel it in your store account first, or the store will keep charging you.
Without the app, you can delete the account on calculatorai.app (Settings → Account data → Delete account).
If you used Sign in with Apple, you can also stop using your Apple ID with CalculatorAI in your iPhone settings: Settings → [your name] → Sign in with Apple.
Uninstalling the app removes the data stored on the device, but not your account. Purchase records kept by Apple, Google and RevenueCat follow their own policies; we keep billing records as long as accounting law requires.

Your rights in the app

The rights in section 5 apply to data from the app. If you live in California, you also have the right under the CCPA/CPRA to know what personal information we collect, to correct and delete it, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, and we will not treat you differently for using these rights. The app is not directed to children under 16; if you believe a child has given us personal data, write to info@calculatorai.app and we will delete it.
