Is the budget tracker free?
Yes. The free plan covers 8 monthly line items and 10 custom categories; the example budget never counts and deleting a line frees a slot. Pro removes both caps and adds importing an existing budget and the AI budget copilot. Every new account starts with 14 days of Pro without a card, and CSV export is free on every plan.
Does it use zero-based budgeting or the 50/30/20 rule?
Both at once. You plan zero-based — income plus what carried in, minus everything planned, should reach zero so every unit of money has a job. The Analytics tab scores the same lines as needs, wants and savings & debt against 50/30/20, so there is no second budget to keep and the two can never disagree.
Do I have to enter my spending twice?
No. Spending recorded in the Expenses Tracker fills each budget category's actual automatically, matched by name or by a link you set. A figure you type yourself always wins and is never overwritten, and if two budget categories would claim the same spending, neither takes it rather than counting the money twice.
How does budget rollover work?
Rollover is optional. Per category, what you did not spend last month is added to this month, and overspending carries over as a negative; overall, the money actually left at the end of last month is added to what there is to allocate. Only one month is carried, computed exactly as that month was shown.
Can I import a budget from a spreadsheet?
On Pro, yes: a screenshot or PDF of a spreadsheet, another app, a bank statement or even a sheet of paper, in any language, becomes a list of plan lines with groups and amounts. Subtotals and section headers are skipped, and nothing is saved until you review the lines and confirm the month.
Can I make a budget with my partner?
Yes, a family budget: a separate shared budget with its own categories, lines and currency, and a role for each person you invite by email. Writing into it needs your own Pro, viewers never need Pro, and your personal budget stays invisible. Inside a family budget the actuals are typed or imported, not read from anyone's private ledger.
Does it sync with my bank?
No — the tracker never asks for banking credentials. Actual spending arrives from your Expenses Tracker ledger, which you fill by CSV import, a statement or by hand. The upside is that it works in countries no bank aggregator covers. There is no app-store app, but it is built for the phone browser.
Can I budget in more than one currency?
Yes. Every line and category keeps its own currency, totals are converted at live rates into whichever currency you are viewing, and the stored amounts are never rewritten. A salary in one currency and rent in another both stay exactly as entered, so the balance is real rather than a sum of mismatched numbers.
