How to write a salon receipt
A salon receipt has to separate three different things: the service performed, any product sold, and the tip. They are taxed differently and, if you rent a chair, they settle differently with the salon owner too.
This template opens with a service line, a product line and a tip line. Enter the client and the stylist, mark it paid, and download a PDF or send it by email.
What to include
- Salon and stylist name
- Services performed, each priced
- Retail products sold, if any
- Tip shown separately from the service
- Total paid, method and date
Payment details: Paid in full · card
Frequently asked questions
Should the tip be a separate line?
Yes. Tips are treated differently from service income for tax in most countries, and mixing them into the service price makes your takings look higher than they are while hiding what the stylist actually earned.
Do chair renters need their own receipts?
Yes — if you rent a chair you are your own business, and your client’s receipt should carry your name, not only the salon’s. It is also what separates your income from the owner’s at year end.
Is the salon receipt template free?
Yes — unlimited PDFs, no account and no watermark.
Is this receipt generator free?
