What your readers can make in the frame

Each type has its own form, so nobody has to know how a WiFi or vCard string is actually written. They fill in the fields and the code appears.

Who puts a QR generator on their site

An article about QR menus that then sends the reader off to find a generator has done half the job. This finishes it on your page.

Restaurant and hospitality sites

Menus, WiFi for guests, review links and table ordering. A supplier blog that lets a restaurant owner build the code on the page is far more useful than one that tells them to go find a generator.

Event and wedding sites

Invitations, seating plans, shared photo albums, gift lists. Everything at an event ends up behind a code, and the person planning it is on your page right now.

Churches and community organisations

Giving links, bulletins, sign-up forms. Codes are printed once and handed to hundreds of people, and almost every generator that lets you change them later charges for it.

Retail, schools and small business

Shelf labels, classroom handouts, business cards, guest WiFi. Short jobs that nobody wants to sign up for a service to finish.

Nothing to run

The matrix, the PNG and the SVG are all built in the reader’s browser. No server of ours renders an image per visitor, so there is no bill, no API key and no rate limit however busy the page gets.

Fully styleable

Colours, linear and radial gradients, a logo in the centre, transparent background, error-correction level. The same editor as on our own site, not a trimmed-down one.

No watermark, no expiry

A static code made in the frame belongs to whoever made it, keeps working forever and is not tracked. Nothing to sign up for, on either side.

About two minutes

Adding it to your site

1

Pick the QR generator

It is at the top of the widget list, above the calculators.

2

Set language and theme

Ten interface languages, light or dark, or follow the reader’s own system setting.

3

Paste the snippet

Into an HTML or embed element. That is the whole installation.

WordPressCustom HTML block.
WebflowEmbed element.
SquarespaceCode block.
WixEmbed HTML element.
GhostHTML card.
Plain HTMLAnywhere in the body.

On platforms that strip scripts (some hosted builders do), the generator still works — only the automatic height adjustment stops, so the frame keeps the height written in the snippet. Set that height yourself and nothing is lost.

Works in the widget

  • Every code type — link, WiFi, vCard, email, phone, SMS, WhatsApp, location, event, crypto, plain text.
  • All styling: colours, gradients, centre logo, transparent background, error correction.
  • Download as print-ready PNG or vector SVG.
  • Ten interface languages, light and dark themes.

Does not, and why

  • Dynamic, editable, trackable codes. A dynamic code is a short link we host and somebody has to own it, which needs an account — so inside the frame that option links out to the full generator instead of pretending to work.
  • Removing the credit link. It is what the widget is exchanged for, and the wording is the same for every site — per-site keyword links would turn this into something search engines penalise us both for.

Wondering how the generator itself compares with QRCode Monkey, Canva and the rest? That comparison lives here.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What it costs, whether the codes expire, what your readers can restyle, and the one thing the widget deliberately does not do.

01Is the QR generator widget free?
Yes — free with no time limit, no account for you and none for your readers. There is no paid tier for embedding it and no point at which a widget already on your page stops working. The credit link under the frame is the whole exchange.
02Do the codes it makes expire or carry a watermark?
No to both. A code made in the widget is a plain static QR code that belongs to whoever made it — it keeps working forever, there is no watermark on the image, and nothing tracks it. Many popular generators quietly expire free codes; this one cannot, because there is no server involved in the code at all.
03Can my readers make dynamic, editable codes in the widget?
No, and that is the widget's one real limitation. A dynamic code is a short link we host and someone has to own it, which needs an account. Inside the widget the dynamic option links out to the full generator on our site instead of pretending to work. Everything else — every code type, all the styling, PNG and SVG download — is fully available in the frame.
04What will it cost me in hosting or bandwidth?
Nothing. The QR matrix, the SVG and the PNG are all built in your reader's browser. No image is generated on a server, so there is no per-visitor cost, no API key and no rate limit to hit however popular the page gets.
05Can readers put their own logo and colours on a code?
Yes — foreground and background colours, linear or radial gradients, a logo in the middle, a transparent background, and the error-correction level. It is the same editor as on our own site, not a cut-down version.
06What formats can they download?
A print-ready PNG or a vector SVG. The SVG matters for anyone putting a code on signage or packaging, and it is the format most free generators keep behind a paywall.
07Will it slow my page down?
The widget sits in a lazy-loaded iframe, so it does not begin downloading until a reader scrolls near it and it never delays your own content from appearing.
