How to quote as a tiler
Tiling is quoted per square metre, but the number that decides whether the job makes money is preparation. An uneven floor, an old adhesive bed or a wall that needs boarding can cost more than the tiling itself, and a quote that hides it inside the rate is a quote you will regret.

Should the client supply the tiles?
Either way works, but the quote must say which. When the client supplies them, add a waste allowance line and state that re-ordering delays are not your responsibility — shortfalls mid-job are the most common cause of a stalled tiling week.
How do I quote preparation I cannot see yet?
Quote what you can see and state the rate for anything found underneath — old adhesive, a floor out of level, damp. A named hourly or per-m² rate for the unknown is fair to both sides and far better than absorbing it silently.
